Printmaking is technical and process oriented. It has a prescribed beginning, middle and end. Thus I like my work to be simple, using spontaneous and organic images as a counter balance to its more structured practice. Image shifts, surface and texture changes all add an emotional element to the piece. My other works on paper were painted, some on woven and/or printed paper. The woven paper works started out as an experiment with painting on different types of paper. I cut blank or printed paper into strips, and then weaved them back into their original shape, before painting them. In some pieces I allow the old text and images to come through. Again, process and art is revealed, each informing the other.
